Michael S. Cocco, CFP®, ChFC® specializes in working with multi-generational families, business owners, entrepreneurs, pre-retirees, and retirees who desire professional financial advice. With a tax conscious approach, he is dedicated to ensuring his clients have enough income to cover their expenses through their retirement years in addition to leaving a legacy to the next generation. Mike solves for complexities through comprehensive wealth management, financial planning, and insurance solutions to help grow and protect wealth while coordinating with clients’ tax professionals.
Bringing nearly two decades of experience, Mike entered the wealth management industry right out of college following in his father’s footsteps and joining the family practice along with his brother, Dan. He has earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Chartered Financial Consultant® professional certifications to serve his clients more deeply. He also holds the FINRA Series 7, 66 and 24, as well as the Life and Health Insurance licenses. Mike attended Equitable Institute at Harvard University, an advanced learning curriculum focusing on asset allocation and wealth management. He is proud to have been inducted into the Equitable Advisors Hall of Fame and is a member of the firm’s Elite Producer Group. He was recognized as a Five Star Wealth Manager in 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2023 and an AdvisorHub “Advisors to Watch” 2023: #7 Nationally in Advisors managing under $1B. Mike has been featured in and contributed to numerous financial publications including Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Insider, Yahoo! Finance, MSN, Money Magazine and New Jersey Monthly. He earned a B.S. in economics with a concentration in money and banking from Penn State University, Smeal College of Business.
A native of Nutley, New Jersey, Mike lives in Montclair with his wife, Katie, and their children: Rosie and Charlie. He is passionate about serving others and is a current advisory board member for The Hope Gala, committed to conquering childhood cancer by raising awareness and providing financial assistance. Mike is also a current member of the board of directors for the Montclair Public Library Foundation, providing support, advocacy, and education. He is a past president of the Northern New Jersey chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association and served as an at-large director of the Penn State Smeal College of Business Alumni Society Board. He previously was a board member of the Four Diamonds Fund. Outside the office, Mike enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf and tennis, as well as rooting for the New York Yankees, Kansas City Chiefs, and all things Penn State.
